CARAFATE

Drug Uses
Carafate is employed for the treatment and the prevention of the ulcers. It can also be employed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Taken
Employ Carafate as directed by your doctor. Take in Carafate on a stomach empties at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Do not take an antiacid during at least 30 minutes before or after taking Carafate. It can take 4 to 8 weeks for the complete cure of your ulcer. Continue to take Carafate for the full course of the treatment even if you feel better. Do not take Carafate at the same time as other medicines. Take in Carafate at least 2 hours after other medicines. If you are not sure about the best hour to take Carafate, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Carafate, known as your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, particularly if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Carafate, if you have problems of kidney or are on dialysis, or have the filling of the intestines or the difficulty swallowing, if you are pregnant, far-sighted to become pregnant or nurse with the centre. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will have to discuss the advantages and the risks to take Carafate while you are pregnant. It is not known if Carafate is found out of mother’s milk.
